NSZZ "Solidarność" of West Pomerania has elected a new chairman. The unionists decided that Mieczysław Jurek, who has led this organization in West Pomerania since 1998, will be replaced by Dariusz Głogowski.

Dariusz Głogowski has been a member of "Solidarity" since 1981. He has a higher education, he graduated in labor pedagogy and social counseling. Until now, he was the chairman of the NSZZ "Solidarity" trade union organization in Agryfa - the Szczecin branch of Animex Foods. He is also a member of the National Council of the Section of Employees of the Meat, Poultry and Fat Industry. He has many years of experience as a member of the Regional Board.

- In his program, he committed to strengthening the voice of industries and working to open up to young people. He also declared himself a supporter of dialogue - informed Katarzyna Stróżyk, spokeswoman for NSZZ "Solidarność" West Pomerania.

Przemysław Mazur, acting chairman of the NSZZ "Solidarność" Regional Board of West Pomerania, also sought the votes of trade unionists during Monday's XVI General Meeting of Delegates of the West Pomerania Region. Dariusz Głogowski defeated him by a large majority of votes. This term will last until 2028.

Earlier information

Mieczysław Jurek, chairman of the NSZZ "Solidarność" of Western Pomerania, has been retired since April. He retired suddenly, before the end of his term. Today (Monday, May 19) elections for a new chairman are taking place. They are taking place in the Netto Arena in Szczecin. The person who will lead the organization will be chosen by 138 delegates. There are two candidates.

Earlier, during the ceremonial part of this election convention, the previous helmsman of this union organization in West Pomerania - Mieczysław Jurek - was said goodbye. In his speech, he emphasized that the most important thing in the union's activities is to remember people, respect them and take care of their issues. He said that "Solidarity" should be guided by love for one's neighbor and never leave anyone in need.

- Always remember people, always take care of people, always respect people, because it will pay off, because people need it - he said. - You can never leave a person in need alone. You can't. Whether he is a member or not, he is a person. You hold power, whether political, local government or union, to take care of people. The rest is not very important.

He also emphasized:

- "Solidarity" differs from other organizations and trade unions in that at the end there are always wise and discussed proposals that serve other people.

On the occasion of this event, a letter to the West Pomeranian organization was sent by the Chairman of the National Commission of the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union "Solidarity", Piotr Duda.

- The year 2025 is special for "Solidarity". We are celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Union's establishment. It is not only a time of memories and pride in our history, but also an opportunity to set new directions of action - wrote P. Duda.

Long-time, now retired, activists of "Solidarity" also spoke. They recalled, among others, the activities of Mieczysław Jurek, but also drew attention to the current and future challenges facing unionists.

- It is the trade unions, "Solidarity", that can and should force employers to raise the standards of interpersonal relations - said Anna Malinowska.

Of course, Mieczysław Jurek's past years of trade union work were also mentioned.

- With calmness, but also with great courage, he took up talks, the most difficult talks with everyone who needed to be talked to in order to fight for the values that the Union cares about - said Piotr Mync, deputy mayor of Stargard. - During these talks, there were various situations. If a compromise could not be reached, he did not hesitate to organize protests. In the region, in the country, abroad. He led "Solidarity" with charisma. Honest, reliable, helpful, not only an activist, but also a person. He never refused to help and lean on an individual. We have such common experiences behind us as well. I want to thank the chairman of the regional "Solidarity" for his contribution to the development of the country, region and city.

After the ceremonial part, the part related to the election of the new chairman began. Closed to outsiders. Unofficially, it is known that two candidates are running for this position: Dariusz Głogowski and Przemysław Mazur. ©℗

When Duda and the rest of them fail to "dialogue" and lack arguments, the argument of force comes into play. Stones, burning tires, firecrackers, slingshots and ball bearings are used. This is your language. This is how society perceives you. You have nothing in common with "solidarity". You usurp the right to a "union" to which you have no rights.

Congratulations. Thanks also to Mr. Jurek for his activities.

It's good that you wrote "solidarity" in quotation marks, because this creation has nothing to do with the original solidarity. Now it's just a PiS appetizer, not any solidarity

Is there still something like NSZZ Solidarność in Poland? The current authorities of this entity have turned the trade union into a political annex of Kaczyński's party.

Yesterday, Nawrocki, speaking at the BHP hall of the Gdańsk Shipyard, claimed that the S was founded by the best president in Poland, Lech Kaczyński. Now the head of the S in our region, who during martial law was knocking on wagon wheels with a hammer, is leaving, and Komołowski made him the head of the S. I wonder how many members who pay dues the S has in our region? Secret by confidentiality.
